History

Grande Albergo was built between 1952 and 1953 and it is designed by the architect Antonio Costabile, immediately it became hotel hospitality reference in the city, but not only.

After 1980 earthquake the hotel was renovated with a project of the Potenza Archstudio (consisting of Antonio Costabile and Eng. Maurizio Leggeri) that will be a case study of international aseismic engineering.

Grande Albergo is located a few steps from Pretoria Street, the ancient Decumanus, the historic squares and the lively pedestrian area.

The main attractions of the city can be reached on foot in a few minutes: the Stabile Teather, the Cathedral, the Diocesan Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Civic Gallery and the escalators leading to the most important urban area points.
